The island of Mumbai is influenced by different periods of rule that include the Islamic, Portuguese, and English periods.
Culturally Hindus, Muslims, and Christians play a big role in Mumbai. This is very evident in the co-existence of temples, mosques and Churches. Examples of this diversity in Mumbai is there is Haji Ali Dargah(Mosque), Sidivinakh Temple, and St. Thomas Cathedral Church all of these are located in the City center.

History Narrative
In 1348 BC, Mumbai was under Muslim control and Islam was introduced to the city. After that the Muslim Sultan seceded, Mumbai Island went to the Portuguese. After the Portuguese Princess was given Bom Bahai as a dowry to the British, the English ruled Mumbai until Independence.
