Movement Of People, Goods, and Ideas
The metropolitan city of Mumbai is "The City of Dreams" in India. Mumbai is a metropolitan city where many come in aspirations to find better jobs and education for their kids. Trains from all over the country come to Mumbai and bring people and goods for a better life. As the people come to Mumbai, so do ideas and goods. Mumbai's population has doubled in the last 20 years and this has greatly influenced the shape of Mumbai.
Some of the biggest industry owners such as Wipro, Reliance, Essel Group and Tata Group have all established themselves in Mumbai. The National Stock Exchange, Reserve Bank of India and the Mint are all situated in Mumbai. Every day people migrate to Mumbai with new entrepreneurial ideas in the food, retail, clothing and technologies. Mumbai is the center of the Indian Film Industry that produces the most movies in one year. Aspiring actors come to Mumbai in hope to find anything from a menial to a modest roles in films or TV.
Due to the vast amount of high end industry Mumbai, there are a lot of high end restaurants and hotels chains that have established themselves including those from America. Famous chains include Coke, Pepsi, McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut, Dunkin Donuts, Baskin Robbins, Dominos, Subway, Starbucks, Holiday Inn, Sheraton, Renaissance, Westin, Intercontinental, Hilton, Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton, Honda, Toyota, Mercedes Benz, Hyundai, Ford, Volkswagen, Ferrari, Lexus, Audi, Rolls Royce and BMW. The biggest market in Mumbai is Dabbawala system, that allows hot, home cooked, food freshly delivered to office workers at their places of work with efficiency. This system has attracted many to work in these economies for better wages than their hometown or villages. Additionally, taxis are big commodity in Mumbai brining thousands of drivers in search of steady income to the city.
